Over 150 corgis gathered at an international race in Vilnius to celebrate the small Welsh herding dogs. The event featured a costume parade, a “smartest nose” challenge, and a loudest bark competition. Participants from nine countries, including the United States and Britain, showcased their corgis in the competition.
Organizer Edvinas Miskas highlighted the event’s growth from 40 corgis in the first year to 150 from various countries, with the breed’s homeland also represented. The main running event saw 94 dogs competing, with American corgi GG emerging as the winner over 25 meters. Mr. Corgington from the U.S. finished a close second, while Lithuania’s Moka took third place.
Beyond speed, the event showcased the dogs’ diverse skills and personalities. Highlights included a costume parade with unique outfits, a “smartest nose” challenge won by Latvian corgis Tora and Rusty, and a loudest bark contest won by Mr. Corgington. The competition also featured a mix of first-time participants and veteran corgis, adding to the event’s charm and excitement.
