Meghan Markle’s Father Recovering from Leg Amputation

Published:

Meghan Markle’s father, who has been distant from her, shared an update on his health following a recent leg amputation. The 81-year-old underwent surgery to remove his left leg below the knee in the Philippines where he resides, due to a serious blood clot. Their relationship soured in 2018 when he staged paparazzi photos before Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry.

After his operation, Meghan reached out to her father through a letter, though its contents remain undisclosed. Mr. Markle expressed gratitude for the support he has received from well-wishers worldwide and shared that he is making progress in his recovery, learning to walk again in a rehabilitation hospital in Cebu.

In an interview with the Mail On Sunday, Mr. Markle conveyed his positive outlook, stating his appreciation for the medical staff’s care and his progress in physiotherapy. Despite Meghan’s efforts to reconnect, it was reported that she has not received a response from her father and has distanced herself further, with no plans for reconciliation.

Mr. Markle, facing financial challenges for his medical expenses, has turned to online donations, as his health insurance does not cover the costs. His son, Thomas Jnr, expressed disappointment over rumors that Meghan and Prince Harry had not contributed to their father’s hospital bills, emphasizing the financial strain on the family.

Thomas Jnr, in a video on his YouTube channel, described his father as resilient and emphasized his commitment to supporting him through his recovery. The family dynamics remain strained, with little hope of reconciliation between Meghan and her father.

The ongoing saga highlights the complexity of family relationships, health struggles, and financial burdens faced by the Markle family during this challenging time.
