Survivor of Tragic Accident Pursues New Career Paths

Published:

A young man’s life took a drastic turn after a devastating incident that left him severely injured at the age of 18. Loren Schauers, while driving on a bridge, veered off the road and plummeted 50 feet, becoming trapped under a heavy truck. Despite the ordeal, he managed to stay conscious throughout the harrowing experience.

Following the accident in September 2019, Loren underwent extensive surgery resulting in the loss of three limbs. Enduring a challenging hemicorperectomy procedure, a rarity with fewer than 100 cases worldwide, he not only survived but persisted in living life to the fullest.

Hailing from Montana, Loren recently disclosed the aspects of his life he misses most post the life-altering injuries. Six years ago, after the truck crushed his lower body, necessitating the amputation of everything below his waist, Loren did not allow the accident to deter his spirit.

Married to his childhood sweetheart, Sabia Reiche, who stood by him unwaveringly through the traumatic event and his gradual recovery, Loren reflected on his past aspirations. He expressed missing the simple joy of driving his truck, a passion that held significant importance in his life.

Before the tragedy, Loren and his wife harbored dreams of purchasing a camper or bus to travel around Montana while he pursued a career in construction. However, due to his physical limitations post-accident, these aspirations had to be reevaluated, impacting his career choices significantly.

Although his initial career plans in construction were thwarted by the accident, Loren and his wife found financial stability through sharing their experiences on YouTube. Despite the decline in their channel’s popularity, Loren is exploring new career paths, including gaming and reviewing disability equipment businesses.

Considering his social media presence, Loren sees gaming and business reviews as potential career avenues. He aims to create content on YouTube, showcasing handicap accessibility in Montana and potentially streaming on platforms like Twitch. His current focus is on acquiring suitable prosthetics and technology to enhance his day-to-day independence.
