The family of a teenager who was discovered deceased a week after she went missing in San Antonio, Texas, have expressed their profound sorrow. Authorities have confirmed that Camila Mendoza Olmos, aged 19, took her own life, with her remains being found in a field near her family residence following her disappearance.
In their first public statement about Camila, a family representative conveyed gratitude to the news media, law enforcement, and various communities for their support during the search efforts. The family requested respectful consideration of their grief and asked for prayers for Camila’s mother, Rosario, and her brother, Carlos, during this challenging period.
After an extensive search operation, authorities located a body in a field on New Year’s Eve, bringing the search for the missing teenager to a tragic end. Camila was last seen leaving her home on Caspian Spring Road on the morning of December 24, raising concerns for her safety, prompting a plea for public assistance from the Texas police.
Sheriff Javier Salazar mentioned that Camila seemed to be struggling emotionally, based on the circumstances surrounding her disappearance. Recently released dashcam footage captured Camila walking along a path in attire matching her last known clothing description.
Wearing a sky blue and black hooded jumper, pale blue pajama bottoms, and white shoes, Camila vanished on Christmas Eve. Multiple agencies, including the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, collaborated with local law enforcement during the search.
