Tragic E-Scooter Collision Claims Life in Waterford

A tragic incident occurred in Waterford, Republic of Ireland, on Christmas Day, resulting in the death of a man after his e-scooter collided with a car. The man, identified as Alan Walsh from St John’s Park, Waterford city, was in his 40s. The collision took place at the junction of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road around 11 am the previous day.

Alan Walsh, a father-of-two, was taken to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the car involved, an elderly man in his 80s, also sustained injuries but they were reported as non life-threatening.

According to reports, there were no other injuries confirmed by Gardaí. Alan Walsh, who was employed at O’Sullivans Bar and Restaurant, is survived by his children, Sean and Ava, and will be dearly missed by his family and a wide circle of relatives and friends.

Following the incident, the area was cordoned off for several hours to allow forensic collision experts to examine the scene thoroughly. Gardaí are requesting any witnesses, especially motorists with possible camera footage, such as dash-cam recordings, who were in the vicinity of Manor Hill (Bunker’s Hill) and Hennessy’s Road between 10:45 am and 11:15 am on December 25, to come forward.
