“Mass Stabbing Incident at Japan Plant: 8 Injured”

Eight individuals have been swiftly transported to a medical facility following a reported mass stabbing incident at a manufacturing plant in Japan.

Law enforcement promptly responded to the Yokohama Rubber Factory in Mishima after receiving information that a man had unlawfully entered the premises and attacked “five or six individuals” with a sharp object, while also dousing them with an unidentified substance, around 4:30 pm local time on Boxing Day. According to the fire department, a total of 15 people sustained injuries, with six individuals taken to the hospital and eight receiving on-site medical attention.

The fire department confirmed that all 15 victims are conscious, with eight individuals sustaining stab wounds and the remaining six reportedly coming into contact with the unknown liquid. The severity of their injuries is currently unknown, as per NHK News.

Authorities have detained the suspected perpetrator on charges of attempted murder, and an investigation into the incident is currently underway, as stated by the police.

Detectives have identified the suspect as a man in his 30s with purported connections to the factory.

Situated in a residential neighborhood approximately 2 kilometers southeast of Mishima’s primary train station, the Yokohama Rubber factory spans roughly 112,000 square meters and specializes in manufacturing tires for both passenger vehicles and trucks, according to the company’s official website.

As of December last year, the company boasted a workforce of over 980 employees.
