A horrifying bus crash resulting in 10 fatalities, including a child, has revealed chilling new details. The tragic incident occurred in Zontecomatlan, Mexico, on Christmas Eve as the bus, filled with passengers heading home for the Christmas holiday, careened over a 600-foot embankment.

Initially, reports indicated eight fatalities and 19 injuries, but the death toll has since climbed to at least 10, with 32 passengers receiving medical treatment in various hospitals across Mexico. The Zontecomatlan mayor’s office confirmed the deaths of nine adults and one child.

Emergency services rescued the injured passengers, who were then transported to hospitals for treatment. Authorities from the General Prosecutor’s Office of Justice of the State of Veracruz are conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the tragic crash.

The bus had departed from Mexico City en route to Chicontepec in Veracruz’s Huasteca region, known for its picturesque tropical landscapes. The circumstances leading to the bus veering off the road remain unclear, including the status of the driver, identified as Carlos Daniel Baez.

State governors expressed their coordination efforts in responding to the accident, providing care to the injured individuals and confirming the tragic loss of eight lives. Rescue and recovery operations are ongoing at the crash site.
