“Eland Cables Boosts Employee Pay Ahead of Holidays”

Published:

Eland Cables, a company that supplies electrical cables for major infrastructure projects, is making an early move to increase its employees’ pay, much to the delight of its staff who see this boost as timely ahead of the holiday season.

The Real Living Wage, a voluntary pay standard for workers over 18 employed by Living Wage Foundation signatories, is designed to cover essential living costs such as food and bills. Eland Cables’ decision will see hourly rates rise by 85p to £13.45 and by 95p to £14.80 in London, exceeding the minimum wage requirements.

This wage increase benefits all employees over 18 at Eland Cables, a company committed to fair compensation practices. While the deadline for implementing higher rates is May 2026, Eland Cables has taken the proactive step to implement the raise early, benefiting hundreds of employees like Ben, a 34-year-old father-of-two from Doncaster.

Ben expressed his appreciation for the early pay raise, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on his family’s finances, especially as they approach the festive season. He highlighted the importance of fair pay and shared his involvement in fundraising for a local hospice.

JS Pelland, the executive director of Eland Cables, emphasized the company’s values of fairness, loyalty, and long-term success in implementing the Real Living Wage early. He stressed the positive effects of treating employees well, leading to better engagement, pride in work, and improved results for all.

Eland Cables’ workforce, half of whom perform essential operational roles, has seen increased staff retention, reduced sickness absence, and higher productivity since adopting the Living Wage Plus policy. The company’s commitment to internal promotion and career development has further enhanced employee commitment, contributing to overall consistency, quality, and trust within the organization.
