“Embrace the Joy: Early Christmas Decorating Sparks Controversy”

Published:

This holiday season, I made the decision to start decorating for Christmas earlier than usual. Often, when individuals choose to do this and share it on social media, they face criticism from others, being labeled as ‘crazy’ or told to ‘get a grip.’ However, in the realm of social media, it’s impossible to please everyone, so prioritizing your own happiness is key.

The reason behind my early decorating choice this year stems from the proximity of my birthday, which falls just six days before Christmas, followed by my partner’s birthday three days later. This often results in us being away from home during the festive season buildup.

By putting up our decorations at the beginning of December, we aimed to extend the period where we could fully relish the festive ambiance they bring. Given the beauty they add to our surroundings, maximizing their enjoyment felt only natural.

Amidst the prevalent negative news cycle, I strongly believe that embracing the joy that Christmas decorations bring is a worthwhile pursuit. If something as simple as festive décor can uplift your spirits, why delay the gratification?

This act harms no one and should not offend anyone. If it does, the responsibility lies with them. In my view, the act of decorating early is harmless and can serve as a mood booster, especially considering the amount of time many of us spend at home nowadays. It’s a cost-effective way to add cheer to your day, assuming you already possess the necessary decorations.

Criticism notwithstanding, putting up decorations is an enjoyable and engaging activity in itself. Paired with a glass of mulled wine or a cozy hot chocolate, it becomes even more pleasurable. You can crank up the Christmas music, dance around your living space, and unwind without any inhibitions.

As Christmas-themed advertisements flood the media and festive markets come alive across the nation, the impending arrival of December 25 becomes increasingly apparent. In such a scenario, my motto is simple: if you can’t avoid it, embrace it.

Unpacking decorations collected over the years evokes a warm and nostalgic feeling, especially when they hold sentimental value for you and your family. From holiday baubles to handmade ornaments from friends, each piece adds a personal touch to our festive setup.

Recently, we purchased a fresh wreath from a local makers market to adorn our door, making us the trendsetters on our street. So, if you’re in need of a mood lift and feeling a bit like Scrooge, I encourage you to delve into the festive spirit.

Turn up the Christmas tunes by Michael Bublé, Mariah Carey, and Kelly Clarkson, and allow the magic of the season to envelop you. Trust me, the joy it brings will be worth it!
