“Explosion at Methil Harbor in Fife Sparks Intense Fire”

Residents in Fife were startled by a powerful explosion that occurred when a group of trucks caught fire. Firefighters are currently working to control a significant blaze following the intense blast.

The incident took place at Methil harbor in Fife on Sunday, December 21, around 9:11 am, when several heavy goods vehicles suddenly ignited. Emergency response teams swiftly rushed to the scene to combat the fire.

At present, seven fire engines are actively combating the flames, with additional support from police and ambulance crews on site. The cause of the fire remains unknown, and there have been no reports of injuries so far, as per the Daily Record.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) has advised people to steer clear of the area and advised locals to keep their windows and doors shut as a precaution.

Witnesses described hearing a loud explosion before the arrival of emergency teams. Some observers noted seeing smoke billowing from a distance.

A witness shared an image online, describing how the explosion shook their entire house, with emergency services visible on the scene. Pictures from the harbor depict thick smoke enveloping the vicinity, with firefighters bravely battling the flames.

Authorities confirmed that the affected road was temporarily closed but has since reopened. However, residents are still advised to avoid the area and keep their windows shut.

A Police Scotland spokesperson stated, “Emergency services responded to a vehicle fire in the Harbour View area of Methil around 9:20 am on December 21. The fire is under control, and there have been no injuries reported. While the area has reopened, residents are urged to keep windows and doors closed.”

An SFRS representative mentioned, “We received a report at 9:11 am of multiple heavy goods vehicles on fire at Methil harbor. Seven fire appliances were dispatched, and no casualties have been reported. Due to the smoke, people are advised to stay away, and locals should keep their windows and doors shut.”
