“Freely Set to Disrupt Sky with Innovative Free TV Box”

Published:

Sky offers various TV streaming options, including Glass TV and Stream box, providing access to premium channels and personalized recommendations. However, a new player in the market is set to challenge Sky’s dominance.

Freely, a service launched last year, allows UK households to stream live TV for free through new TVs with built-in capabilities. These TVs connect to the internet for live channel access without the need for an aerial.

Previously, using Freely required purchasing a new TV, but now, the company is introducing a set-top box manufactured by Netgem. This device will be available for purchase later this year, offering over 40 live channels without requiring an aerial.

The Freely box will feature a full TV guide, a Mini Guide for current and upcoming programs, recommendations for viewing content, live TV pause functionality, and a seven-day rewind and forward feature for watching past broadcasts.

Freely promises regular updates for evolving features, channels, and content, all without any subscription fees after the initial purchase, unlike Sky.

Jonathan Thompson, CEO of Everyone TV, expressed the importance of making free TV accessible to all households through plug-in streaming devices. Sylvain Thevenot, Managing Director of Netgem U.K., highlighted the innovative nature of the Freely streaming device, offering streamlined entertainment over Wi-Fi at an affordable price.
