An accused pastor reportedly engaged a private investigator to monitor his estranged wife prior to her tragic death by suicide. Mica Miller was discovered fatally shot in a North Carolina park on April 27, 2024. Subsequently, allegations surfaced against her estranged husband, Pastor John Paul Miller, leading to federal indictments.
The indictments link Pastor Miller, aged 46, to a prolonged stalking campaign against Mica that spanned from November 2022 until her demise. Specific accusations include sending harassing messages, sharing unauthorized personal images online, placing tracking devices on Mica’s vehicle, excessive communication attempts, financial interference, and vehicular damage.
Furthermore, court documents suggest that Pastor Miller misled investigators, denying involvement in damaging Mica’s vehicle. Allegations also claim that he enlisted a private investigator to surveil Mica out of suspicion of infidelity. However, Pastor Miller contended that his motive was to prevent Mica from acquiring a firearm.
Following Mica’s tragic demise at Lumber River State Park, the medical examiner declared her death a suicide, refuting claims of foul play. The revelation occurred shortly after Pastor Miller, from the Solid Rock at Market Common church, was served divorce papers. Statements attributed to Mica’s Sierra Francis in a Horry County Probate Court affidavit indicated Mica’s expressed fear that Pastor Miller might harm her.
If convicted, Pastor Miller could face significant prison time for cyberstalking and making false statements to investigators. He may also incur a substantial fine. Notably, he has not faced any violent charges yet, with an arraignment hearing scheduled for January 12, 2026.
