River Island Recalls Handbag Over Lead Concerns

Published:

River Island issued a product recall for its Pink Floral Heat Seal Droplet Bucket Handbag due to elevated lead levels in the gold chain, posing a chemical risk to consumers. Exposure to lead can result in harm to kidneys, circulatory system, and is especially hazardous for pregnant individuals. The item code affected is 927917.

In an online notice, River Island stated that the decision to recall the product was made after tests revealed lead levels exceeding safety limits in the handle. While the affected areas are small, they are accessible during use, failing to meet safety standards. Customers are advised to stop using the handbag subject to the recall and make arrangements for its return.

Although the risk of harm is deemed low, lead toxicity can cause health issues if ingested over extended periods. As a precautionary measure, River Island is recalling the product immediately to prioritize customer safety. Consumers are urged to discontinue using the handbag and store it safely until return. River Island apologizes for any inconvenience and assures a full refund.

For returns, customers can send the product to River Island Customer Service Parcels Freepost, MK17 8EW, for both in-store and online purchases. Inquiries can be directed to customer.services@river-island.com or by calling 03445 766 444.

For updates on other recalls, consumers can check the Food Standards Agency (FSA) and Chartered Trading Standards (CTS) Institute websites, or notice recall alerts in stores. Notable recalls include Tesco’s Celery Fruit and Nut Salad due to undeclared mustard, Kendamil infant milk, and Amazon’s Petiyark Neoprene Swim Vest for potential drowning risks and visibility issues in the water.
