Russian troops under Vladimir Putin’s command are reportedly resorting to cannibalism due to food shortages amid the ongoing conflict with Ukrainian forces. Ukrainian intelligence intercepted a radio broadcast revealing plans by Russian soldiers to eat their younger comrades as a result of the dire situation. The soldiers, facing a lack of essential supplies like gas canisters, meat, grains, and cigarettes, are said to be purchasing these items themselves or receiving them from home.
The situation is particularly severe for soldiers invading the Zaporizhzhia region of Ukraine, where instances of cannibalism have been reported. Ukrainian intelligence disclosed that Russian troops have been overheard discussing eating their fellow soldiers out of desperation for food.
In response to the alarming reports, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reminded Russian troops that prisoners of war in Ukraine are provided with three meals a day and urged them to surrender safely. Meanwhile, Ukraine has bolstered its defensive measures in the Zaporizhzhia region to prevent further advances by Putin’s forces, with ongoing construction of fortifications and defensive lines.
Notably, Russian forces have adopted the use of metal sea containers to shield tanks from Ukrainian drone strikes, showcasing a unique defensive strategy in the conflict zone. This innovation aims to enhance protection for tanks during patrols and military operations along the frontlines.
