“Steiner: Hamilton’s Future at Ferrari Uncertain”

Published:

Guenther Steiner, the former Haas team principal, suggests that Lewis Hamilton might not stay long at Ferrari following a disappointing debut season. Steiner believes that young talent Oliver Bearman could eventually take over Hamilton’s position before the Las Vegas Grand Prix.

Hamilton’s performance at Ferrari has raised concerns due to his underwhelming start. Steiner speculates that if Hamilton’s struggles persist into the next season, his time with the Italian team could end prematurely.

Bearman, who filled in for Carlos Sainz at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix last season and joined Ferrari’s Driving Academy in 2022, has impressed with Haas this year. Steiner, in agreement with others, sees Bearman as a potential successor to Hamilton based on his strong performances.

Recent races have seen Bearman consistently scoring points, closing in on Isack Hadjar and Nico Hulkenberg in the Drivers’ Championship Standings. Despite this, Ferrari has had a lackluster season, failing to secure a victory in 2025, while Hamilton is still chasing his first podium after 21 races. In contrast, his teammate Charles Leclerc has achieved seven podium finishes.

Echoing Steiner’s sentiments, Sky Sports F1 pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz believes it’s inevitable for Bearman to replace Hamilton at Ferrari. Kravitz expressed his certainty on The F1 Show that Bearman will eventually step into Hamilton’s shoes at Ferrari.

Although there is ongoing speculation about Hamilton’s future, he has hinted at staying long-term, citing his existing contract. Hamilton mentioned that discussions about contracts usually happen closer to their expiration date, indicating that he is not considering leaving Ferrari at the moment.
