An interactive map has unveiled the extensive impact of Pizza Hut closures on UK high streets, with one area facing the loss of seven out of its nine restaurants. Administrators have disclosed the closure locations of 68 Pizza Hut outlets as the renowned dining chain grapples with financial challenges. This closure initiative will result in the shutting down of 11 delivery sites, putting 1,210 employees at risk of job loss. Following the restructuring, only 64 Pizza Hut restaurants will remain operational across the UK.
The Greater Manchester region is significantly affected by the closures, with seven out of the nine existing Pizza Hut locations set to cease operations, except for outlets at the Trafford Centre and in Manchester city center. A similar pattern is observed in Greater London, where nine Pizza Huts in outer boroughs will close, leaving only three in central London and one at the Bluewater shopping center. Conversely, the East Midlands has been spared from the closure plan, with restaurants in Lincoln, Nottingham, Mansfield, Thurmaston, and Leicester continuing to serve customers.
DC London Pie, the company managing Pizza Hut’s dine-in restaurants in the UK through a franchise agreement, has appointed administrators from FTI, a corporate finance firm. Yum! Brands, the American hospitality conglomerate that owns Pizza Hut globally, has acquired the UK restaurant business in a pre-pack administration deal, safeguarding the operation of 64 sites. Directional Capital took control of 139 Pizza Hut restaurants in January 2025, preserving 3,000 jobs following the collapse of the previous operator, Heart with Smart Limited, which had substantial debts to investor Pricoa Capital.
Established by Directional Capital to oversee Pizza Hut operations in the UK, DC London Pie traces its roots back to the opening of the first UK Pizza Hut in 1973 in Islington, London. Despite the closures, Pizza Hut affirms its commitment to operating in the UK through a combination of company-owned and franchise restaurants. Presently, 351 delivery Huts are operational across the UK, Northern Ireland, and Ireland, in addition to the 64 acquired dine-in sites resulting from the recent deal.
