“Google Pixel Users Report Rapid Battery Drain Bug”

Published:

Some Android device users are experiencing a concerning issue where their phone batteries are depleting rapidly even when not actively in use. This problem seems to have emerged following a recent software update, leading to numerous complaints in various online forums. Particularly, Google’s Pixel phone lineup has been impacted by this battery drain bug, prompting the tech giant to acknowledge the issue and work on a solution.

Impacted devices include the Pixel 10 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel 7A models. According to insights from 9to5Google, the battery drain is attributed to continuous CPU wakeups, causing the phone to operate in the background despite the screen being off.

Affected users have expressed frustrations with one individual noting that their phone and their partner’s have been experiencing battery issues since mid-March, with sudden drops in battery percentage and slow charging speeds. Another user reported a significant increase in the frequency of charging their Pixel 9 Pro XL since the March update, highlighting overnight battery drain as a major concern.

However, not all Pixel users are facing these battery drain issues, as some have reported no noticeable impact on their device’s battery life. Google is actively investigating the problem and is expected to release an update to address the issue promptly. Stay tuned for further updates on this matter.
