“Sky merges movie channels, introduces new smart devices”

Published:

Sky is set to merge two of its movie channels, Sky Cinema Animation and Sky Cinema Family, into a single channel starting on April 30. The move aims to streamline services, providing a unified platform for family-friendly films on channel 304.

Viewers can anticipate popular titles like the Shrek series, The Secret Life of Pets, Smurfs, How to Train Your Dragon, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and Wicked all in one place after the transition. While this means one less channel, all content previously available on Sky Cinema Animation will still be accessible through Sky Cinema Family.

Fans of Sky Cinema Animation need not fret entirely, as the channel will make a comeback during school holidays to entertain kids. The channel will be available from July 24 to August 30, October 23 to November 1, and December 1 to January 5.

In addition to this change, Sky has ventured into the home security market by introducing new smart devices. Customers can opt for a Sky Smart Doorbell and Chime for £5 per month with a £15 upfront cost, offering features like full HD video recording, instant mobile alerts, customizable activity zones, two-way audio, and 30 days of cloud video storage.

For those seeking more functionality, Sky presents a Smart Home Bundle with Smart Home Plan+ for £8 per month and a £20 upfront fee. This package includes an indoor camera and extra app controls for scheduled arming and automatic device modes.

Paul Sweeney, Managing Director of Sky Smart Home, emphasizes the company’s commitment to making premium smart technology accessible. Sky focuses on delivering features that customers value while ensuring simplicity, ease of use, and affordability.
