Farage Calls Trump’s Venezuela Actions Illegal, Potentially Positive

Published:

Nigel Farage has accused Donald Trump of violating international laws in relation to the attacks on Venezuela, although he suggested it might have positive implications.

The US President claimed that the Venezuelan President, Nicolas Maduro, and his wife, Cilia Flores, were apprehended and removed from the country following sustained pressure from Washington. The capital city, Caracas, experienced explosions as troops descended on the area, resulting in billowing black smoke emanating from buildings early in the day.

The leader of Reform UK, who professes to be a close associate of Mr. Trump, acknowledged the illegality of the strikes but contended that they could serve as a deterrent to potential aggression from Russia and China.

In a statement on X platform, Farage remarked, “The unconventional US actions in Venezuela may contravene international norms, yet if they give pause to China and Russia, it might yield positive outcomes. Hopefully, this development will enable the Venezuelan people to move forward without Maduro.”

Earlier, the Prime Minister confirmed that the UK had no involvement in the US’s operation in Venezuela. Keir Starmer expressed a desire to communicate with President Trump to ascertain the specifics of the overnight mission, which involved multiple explosions and low-flying aircraft in Caracas.

When questioned if he had spoken with Mr. Trump, Starmer stated that he had not yet engaged in such discussions. He emphasized the need to gather all relevant information swiftly, emphasizing that the UK played no role in the operation and was focused on ensuring the safety of British citizens in Venezuela.

Approximately 500 UK nationals are currently in Venezuela, and efforts are underway to ensure their well-being. The Foreign Office has updated its travel advisory to advise against all journeys to the South American nation, urging British citizens in Venezuela to stay put but be prepared to adjust plans quickly if necessary.
