“Frankie Dettori’s Triumphant Farewell: Wins Brazil’s Triple Crown”

Published:

Frankie Dettori concluded his illustrious career with a triumphant win in Brazil, clinching the first part of the country’s Triple Crown. Initially planning to retire at Ascot’s Champions Day in October 2023, the revered jockey had a change of heart and extended his career in the US.

At 55 years old, Dettori announced last November that he would retire following the Breeders’ Cup at Del Mar, with a final farewell tour in South America culminating at Rio de Janeiro’s Gavea racecourse. During the event, he secured victories aboard Speak Alpha and Bet You Can in the Brazilian 2,000 Guineas, known as the Grande Premio Estado do Rio De Janeiro.

This remarkable feat allowed him a final chance to showcase his iconic flying dismount celebration. Reflecting on his win, Dettori expressed his surprise and emotional fulfillment, stating, “I never expected to win a Group 1 on my last day. It’s been brilliant. I enjoyed everything. I’ve had a beautiful career, and I’m grateful to retire unscathed.”

Looking to the future, Dettori has embraced a new role as a global ambassador for Amo Racing, under Kia Joorabchian’s guidance. In a heartfelt message to his fans on social media, the veteran jockey expressed gratitude for the lifelong journey within the racing world, acknowledging the invaluable support of his family, colleagues, and dedicated fans who made his dreams a reality.
