“Google Introduces Option to Change Gmail Address”

Published:

Millions of Gmail users will soon have the option to change their email address to a new one. Google had previously suggested this update, and it is now being implemented globally. In an announcement on its Gmail blog page, Google confirmed the ability for users to switch from an email ending in gmail.com to a new address with the same ending.

This update could be beneficial for those who wish to change their username or have experienced changes in their circumstances. However, Google has noted that this feature is gradually rolling out to all users and may not be available to everyone at present.

The new system allows both the old and new email addresses to coexist, ensuring that any emails sent to the current Gmail address will be automatically forwarded to the new one. Google assures users that all account data, including photos, messages, and emails linked to the original address, will remain unaffected.

To check if you are eligible to switch to a new Gmail address without losing your emails, follow these steps:
– Visit myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in if necessary.
– Click on Personal info in the top-left corner.
– Select Email, then Google Account email.
– Click on Change Google Account email under “Google Account email.”
– If the option is not available, it may not be accessible to you yet.
– Enter the new username you desire, ensuring it has not been used before.
– Click Change email and confirm by selecting Yes, change email.
– Follow the on-screen instructions.

Once the process is complete, your new Gmail address will become your primary account email, while the old address will serve as an alternate email.
