“New Clue Emerges in MH370 Mystery: Engineer Proposes Magnetic Compass Analysis”

Published:

An aviation engineer asserts that a crucial clue has emerged that could unravel the mystery of the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, coinciding with renewed efforts to locate the aircraft. The Boeing 777, carrying 12 Malaysian crew members and 227 passengers, disappeared over the Indian Ocean in 2014 after departing from Kuala Lumpur en route to Beijing.

Despite vanishing from radar while flying over the Andaman Sea and deviating from its planned path, satellite signals indicated the plane’s continued flight until it presumably ran out of fuel. The disappearance of the aircraft remains one of the most perplexing mysteries in aviation history, marking a tragic incident involving a missing plane.

Ocean Infinity, a U.S. marine robotics company that successfully located Sir Ernest Shackleton’s lost ship Endurance in 2022, is gearing up for a fresh search mission to find the wreckage of Flight MH370, following a previous unsuccessful attempt in 2018.

Ismail Hamad, the chief engineer at Egypt Air, proposed a new approach, suggesting that the Malaysian government should consider analyzing the magnetic compass deviation of the plane to determine a more precise search area. He speculated that a potential hijacker might have landed the aircraft at one of the abandoned airstrips or lakes within the Philippine archipelago’s complex network of islands.

Malaysia’s Transport Ministry announced the recommencement of a 55-day intermittent search operation led by Ocean Infinity. Hamad emphasized that by examining the deviation between the aircraft’s compass and the Earth’s true north, a logical arc leading southward into the Indian Ocean could pinpoint the plane’s probable location, potentially in a shallower zone near the western Australian coast.

Highlighting the importance of engineering principles in narrowing down the search area, Hamad dismissed the reliance solely on Inmarsat satellite signals, advocating for a comprehensive analysis that considers various factors such as fuel consumption equations and compass drift values. He expressed confidence that a more focused search strategy based on these factors could lead to the discovery of the plane’s final resting place, dispelling the prevailing confusion surrounding the investigation.
