Toys Recalled for Choking Hazard Before Christmas

Published:

Hundreds of toys sold at Sainsbury’s and Argos are being urgently recalled due to a “serious” choking hazard. Orchard Toys announced the recall of its Jungle Heads & Tails toy as it poses a significant risk of choking. The recall was issued by the Government’s Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) on Tuesday, just before Christmas Day.

According to OPSS, the toy’s elephant component contains a cardboard disc that should have been removed during manufacturing. This disc is considered a small part that could pose a choking hazard, especially for children under 36 months who tend to explore objects by putting them in their mouths. The product does not comply with the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.

The Jungle Heads & Tails toy comprises 24 cards with an elephant playing piece, which has been recalled from end users. Consumers are urged to immediately cease using the product and keep it away from small children. They are advised to return the product to the distributor or Orchard Toys for resolution.

Sainsbury’s instructs customers who purchased the affected product with batch code SP/001639/058/17.03.25 to visit www.orchardtoys.com/jungleheadsnotice for a replacement, credit voucher, or refund. Customers should keep the box flap with the batch code and discard the product. Alternatively, they can return it to Sainsbury’s for a full refund. It is confirmed that only the specified batch is affected, and no other batches or Orchard Toys products are impacted.
