“Trump Questions Global Warming Amid Severe US Ice Storm”

Published:

Donald Trump dismisses concerns about global warming as the United States deals with a severe ice storm amid frigid weather conditions. The US President, known for his controversial statements, has consistently doubted climate change, leading to the US pulling out of international climate agreements and promoting the use of fossil fuels. Trump has once again questioned global warming in light of the extreme weather situation in the US, referring to those warning about it as “environmental insurrectionists.”

Taking to Truth Social, Trump highlighted the upcoming record cold wave expected to affect 40 states, expressing skepticism about global warming. As millions of Americans prepare for a potentially devastating ice storm from New Mexico to the Carolinas, major cities like Washington, DC, Philadelphia, New York City, and Boston are expected to face significant snowfall, causing travel disruptions. Approximately 160 million people across the US are under various winter storm warnings and alerts, spanning from the West Coast to the East Coast.

The impending storm, slated to commence on Friday and persist through the weekend, is anticipated to bring heavy snowfall, freezing rain, and sleet. Weather forecasters predict a moisture-laden atmospheric river that will carry precipitation from Texas to the Carolinas before moving northeastward. Forecasts suggest that cities along the I-95 corridor, such as D.C. and Boston, could see snow accumulations exceeding a foot.

Authorities are cautioning about the unique risks posed by the combination of heavy snow, ice, and extremely cold temperatures in Washington, D.C., emphasizing the potential threats to life and property in the region.
