Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for an exciting update as UKTV is set to bring its popular free-to-air channels to Samsung screens without the need for additional devices. This upgrade will provide viewers with a variety of bonus content to enjoy.
The channels will be accessible over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. Samsung will introduce a dedicated rail on the home screen to showcase content from the U streaming service, making it easier for viewers to find and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.
In the upcoming months, channels like U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&YESTERDAY, U&W, and U&eden will be directly accessible through Samsung’s Universal Guide into the U app. This initiative is expected to reach millions of Samsung TVs, with the channels being featured in the ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide to enhance the visibility of UKTV’s live and on-demand content for internet-based TV users.
Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV and BBC Studios UK and Ireland, expressed enthusiasm about the strengthened partnership with Samsung, stating that the collaboration will enhance accessibility to the U app for Samsung customers and ensure the visibility of UKTV’s diverse content offerings across video-on-demand and live channels.
Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the significance of UKTV in enriching the entertainment options available on Samsung TVs. He emphasized Samsung’s commitment to enhancing the entertainment experience for customers by providing access to a broad range of broadcast content through partnerships like the one with UKTV.
Although the exact launch date has not been confirmed, the new features are anticipated to roll out on Samsung TVs soon, enhancing the viewing experience for users.
