EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers the chance to receive free electricity on Sundays by reducing their electricity usage during peak weekday hours of 4pm to 7pm. Customers who participate in the challenge can earn between four and 16 hours of free electricity the following Sunday. EDF customers with smart meters can sign up for the challenge until Sunday, February 1.
The energy company reports that over 260,000 households have already benefited from the Sunday Saver challenge, resulting in more than 17 million free hours of electricity and £5.2 million in bill credits. EDF customers can look forward to four Sunday Saver challenges in February – on February 15 and 22, and March 1 and 8.
During the Christmas period, more than 100,000 customers enjoyed eight hours of free electricity, with EDF giving away a total of 910,536 free hours of electricity to households. Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, shared her positive experience, mentioning how the Sunday Saver challenge has helped her family manage living costs by shifting their electricity usage to off-peak hours.
Jon Perks, Sales & Marketing Director at EDF, emphasized that Sunday Saver offers a practical way for customers to reduce costs during the peak winter billing period. Through the Energy Hub, households can monitor their electricity usage and identify opportunities to save energy across their homes, contributing to a more sustainable electricity grid.
Customers can track their Sunday Saver progress on Energy Hub via MyAccount, where they can access a personalized view of their household’s energy consumption. Additionally, EDF is providing £50 credit to new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle (EV) tariffs, which offer five hours of cheaper electricity every night between 12am – 5am for both home and car charging.
