“Photos Released: Anthony Joshua in Tragic Crash”

Published:

Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps has released new photos from the site of a tragic accident involving renowned British heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua. The agency has also shared detailed insights into the crash that claimed the lives of two individuals.

Joshua was hospitalized after being extricated from the wreckage of the SUV he was traveling in with a driver and other passengers on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Nigeria. The incident occurred on Monday morning when a blown tire caused the vehicle to swerve, leading to a collision with a stationary lorry.

According to updates from the Ogun State police, an investigation is ongoing, and additional information has been provided by the FRSC. The FRSC’s social media post on Monday, December 29, at 2:10 pm GMT showcased four new images depicting the damaged SUV and the truck it collided with.

The images show officials at the scene alongside witnesses, with the rear of the truck cordoned off. The FRSC statement highlighted the rescue of Anthony Joshua from the crash site, where two individuals lost their lives.

The statement revealed that the Lexus Jeep carrying Joshua was traveling above the speed limit, leading to the loss of control and collision with the stationary truck. Excessive speed and improper overtaking were identified as primary factors in the crash, emphasizing the importance of adhering to traffic regulations.

The FRSC extended condolences to the families of the deceased and wished Joshua a swift recovery. Motorists were urged to avoid risky driving practices and prioritize safety, especially on high-speed roads like the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The Ogun State government indicated that the two fatalities were foreign nationals, as per initial reports. Joshua has not made any public statements following the accident, and his current hospital location has not been disclosed by authorities.
