Freeview Updates TV Guide: Talk Channel Closed, Channel Positions Shift

Published:

Freeview has recently updated its TV guide, bringing about changes in channel positions and names. The significant update includes the closure of the Talk channel (Ch 280), a British news channel known for its focus on debate, opinion-led journalism, and politics. Viewers can now access Talk via the official Talk app or other platforms like Samsung TVs, Roku devices, and LG screens.

In addition to this closure, Freeview’s latest update involves renaming Wedotv Big Stories (channel 275) to Wedotv and rearranging the positions of three kids’ content channels. Ketchup TV will move from Ch 209 to Ch 208, Ketchup Too from Ch 210 to Ch 209, and Cartoon Classics from Ch 214 to Ch 210.

Freeview confirmed that on 25th June 2026, several broadcasters will be implementing changes to their channels. The platform emphasized that channels on Freeview are continually evolving, with individual channels deciding to relocate, add, or remove channels to provide audiences with diverse content.

To ensure access to the correct channels, viewers are advised to navigate to their TV settings and retune their devices for an updated TV guide. The retuning process involves selecting options like ‘set-up’, ‘installation’, or ‘update’, initiating a ‘first-time installation’ or similar process, and saving the found channels when prompted.
