Anthony Joshua has returned to England following a tragic car accident that claimed the lives of two individuals. The British heavyweight boxer arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday night and was then transported to his residence for further recovery, as reported by the Sun.
The funeral service for Joshua’s friends, Latif Ayodele and Sina Ghami, is scheduled to take place at a mosque in London. A ‘janaza prayer service’ has been organized for family and friends to pay their respects.
There is uncertainty surrounding Joshua’s attendance at the funeral due to concerns that his presence may attract unwanted attention. Reports indicate that Joshua narrowly escaped the accident by changing seats just before the journey that resulted in the tragic loss of his friends.
The driver of the vehicle, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. His lawyer has stated that the incident was an accident and that the brakes allegedly malfunctioned. Kayode, who was discharged from the hospital, is currently awaiting trial.
After being released from the hospital, Joshua visited a funeral home to pay his respects to Ghami and Ayodele. He then accompanied his mother to the funeral home where the bodies of the deceased were kept before being repatriated to the United Kingdom.
The circumstances surrounding the accident are still under investigation, with Kayode providing an official statement detailing the events leading up to the collision. The case has been adjourned until later this month for further legal proceedings.
