Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube talk show “Chicken Shop Date,” has announced the closure of her show after more than a decade of interviewing celebrities over fried chicken. In an Instagram post, Dimoldenberg expressed gratitude to her followers for joining her on this journey and creating memorable stories through the show. Despite initially envisioning the show as a lifelong project, she now feels it’s time to embark on a new adventure.
Starting the show 12 years ago by interviewing musicians in Britain’s underground rap scene, Dimoldenberg expanded her reach to chat with renowned personalities like Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney, and Jack Harlow. With close to 3.5 million subscribers on her YouTube channel, “Chicken Shop Date” gained popularity for its unique format where Dimoldenberg engages in casual and flirtatious conversations with celebrities at a fried chicken shop in London.
The show’s unconventional approach often led to humorous and occasionally flirtatious interactions, such as Andrew Garfield playfully acknowledging the flirting dynamic during his interview. Dimoldenberg also hosted Canadians like Ryan Reynolds, who shared amusing moments including a correction on his wife Blake Lively’s character name from “Gossip Girl.”
In various interviews, including one with Shania Twain, surprising revelations like Twain never meeting Brad Pitt despite referencing him in her song “That Don’t Impress Me Much” added to the show’s charm. Dimoldenberg’s success extended beyond the show, allowing her opportunities like covering the Oscars red carpet and interviewing personalities like Hudson Williams.
While Dimoldenberg’s future plans post “Chicken Shop Date” remain undisclosed, she is reportedly working on a young adult drama series for the BBC. Despite bidding farewell to her show, Dimoldenberg hinted at a few final episodes before concluding the series for good.
