Heartbreaking Tragedy: Mother and Granddaughter Pass Away Together

Published:

A mother shared the heartbreaking story of losing both her daughter and granddaughter within a short span of time. Mellodie-Ocean Jarman, who was 33 weeks pregnant, was rushed to Royal Bolton Hospital due to breathing difficulties and vision problems. Despite efforts to resuscitate her, the 19-year-old from Atherton, Greater Manchester, went into cardiac arrest and tragically passed away shortly after giving birth to baby Athena-Pearl via emergency C-section.

Justine Ryan, Mellodie’s mother, witnessed the loss of her daughter and granddaughter at the hospital. Mellodie’s boyfriend, Daniel Derbyshire, had to make the difficult decision to remove Athena-Pearl from life support as her condition worsened. He expressed his sorrow but found solace in the fact that Athena-Pearl could pass away in her mother’s arms.

Mellodie’s health had deteriorated rapidly after a routine pregnancy scan where she was sent home with medication for low iron levels. Justine regretted not insisting on Mellodie staying in the hospital, believing it could have potentially saved her life. Mellodie’s condition worsened after she returned home from the hospital, leading to her sudden passing that same night.

Justine recalled the distressing moments leading up to Mellodie’s death, mentioning her daughter’s fading health and visions she was experiencing. Despite attempts to aid Mellodie, she took her final breath in her mother’s arms. The family is now coping with the tragic loss of both Mellodie and baby Athena-Pearl.
