Discussions with partners and stakeholders are ongoing to potentially host the 2027 TCS London Marathon over two days, although no official approval has been granted yet.
Hugh Brasher, the Chief Executive, emphasized the marathon’s global popularity and the continuous exploration of new avenues to engage a broader audience and benefit the city. As preparations intensify for the upcoming 2026 TCS London Marathon on April 26, the focus remains on delivering an exceptional experience for all participants.
In support of the initiative, a spokesperson for the Mayor of London highlighted the city’s reputation as a sports hub and expressed interest in collaborating with London Marathon partners to explore the feasibility of a two-day event next year. The overwhelming response to this year’s marathon, with over 1.1 million applicants through the public ballot, signifies a remarkable 36% increase from the previous year.
The event’s success is further underscored by record-breaking fundraising efforts, with an unprecedented £87.3 million raised. In addition, the London Marathon clinched a Guinness World Record for the highest number of finishers in a single marathon, with 56,640 participants completing the race in the previous edition.
