A police officer resigned from his position after making inappropriate sexual comments to colleagues regarding lesbians, pornography, and sex, just before facing dismissal.
Adil Mohammed, a former officer at Northumbria Police, was found to have made suggestive remarks to three individuals during his tenure. One incident involved him commenting on a colleague’s appearance, stating, “You have a great bum, I always look at your bum.” He further made lewd remarks about spanking to another officer in May of the following year.
The misconduct hearing revealed additional instances where Mohammed made inappropriate and sexualized comments to PC B, including remarks about their physical appearance and explicit references to pornography. During the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, he inappropriately questioned the officer about sharing a room with their spouse.
In another incident, while off duty in December 2022, Mohammed made a lewd comment to PC B in the presence of his wife. The officer also engaged in inappropriate conversations with PC C, making comments about their weight and appearance, as well as discussing explicit topics such as lesbian relationships.
Despite denying the allegations, Mohammed was found guilty of breaching professional behavior standards related to respect and conduct, ultimately resulting in his resignation before the misconduct hearing in November. The panel determined his actions as gross misconduct, leading to his placement on the barred list.
The panel emphasized the importance of upholding professionalism and respect within the police service, stating that Mohammed’s behavior had brought discredit to the force. They concluded that had he still been serving, he would have faced dismissal for his actions.
