An adoption of a rescue dog has been hailed as a heartwarming “Christmas miracle” after witnessing a remarkable change in the dog’s behavior upon realizing she was going to her forever home. A volunteer at BarkVille Dog Rescue, located in the US, captured the touching moment when one-year-old Rosalind’s luck was about to take a turn for the better.
The volunteer, Bruna, shared in a TikTok video, “Upon my first encounter with Rosalind last week, I was immediately drawn to her. I saw a dog in distress, deeply wounded, yet filled with immense love to offer. She longed to trust us, but fear hindered her.” Bruna disclosed that Rosalind was extremely timid, to the extent that staff had not been able to take her outside for exercise as she would completely shut down whenever a leash was brought near her.
“On the day I met her, I made the decision to carry her outside and let her bask in the sunlight,” Bruna recounted. “I stayed by her side for a significant period, accompanied by other volunteers, and gradually, she began to open up.”
Initially sharing Rosalind’s story in a social media post on Christmas Day, Bruna urged individuals who were patient, compassionate, and willing to assist her in blossoming to come forward.
Remarkably, a veterinarian named Andy came across the video and reached out.
“He inquired if she was still available and expressed his intention to adopt her the very next morning when the shelter reopened,” Bruna shared enthusiastically. “And he kept his word.”
The video posted by Bruna depicted a frightened Rosalind crouching in her enclosure, needing assistance from a volunteer to step outside.
As the footage progressed, it captured her initial interaction with her new owner, characterized by affectionate licks, a wagging tail, and most importantly, a newfound sense of trust.
“He’s also a veterinarian with vast experience,” Bruna mentioned about Dr. Andy. “He knew he could mend her broken heart.”
She concluded, “When we took Rosalind out to meet him, she was like a different dog. Her tail wagged, she was joyful and eager, almost as if she knew this was her day. Almost as if she knew he was there for her.”
In addition, she expressed gratitude towards the compassionate doctor, saying, “Thank you immensely, Dr. Andy, for rescuing our precious Rosalind. Rosalind, I will always cherish you.
“You are an incredible girl, and I always had faith in you. I know you are evolving into the dog you were destined to be, and I eagerly anticipate witnessing the next chapter of your life.”
In response to this touching story, a TikTok user commented, “Such a heartwarming tale. I wish Rosalind and Dr. Andy a wonderful life together.”
